Faruq Baqi

Faruq Baqi is employed as an Operations Engineer for a large telecommunications company responsible for maintaining their call center technology.  He brings his expertise in computer science and experience in the corporate culture to the Lighthouse Scholarship Foundation. Participating in grassroots organizations and large company infrastructure has afforded him experience with galvanizing diverse groups of individuals. Mr. Baqi’s dedication to education has encourage him to undertake volunteer teaching positions abroad where he has taught students at all levels as well as provided instruction computer skills to faculty.

Presently, Mr. Baqi resides in York SC, however wherever he resides he is recognized for his philanthropic activities. From a young age he has enjoyed being involved with a variety of community affairs even volunteering as a childcare provider and extra-curricular teacher in his spare time.  Whether it is gathering supplies for victims of natural catastrophes like Hurricane Katrina, supporting refugees, or being a human rights advocate on Capitol Hill, Mr. Baqi will not hesitate to initiate action.  As a public relations liaison he has worked with various communities throughout the United States to facilitate cooperation and fellowship with the media and law enforcement.

In his spare time Mr. Baqi is avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, hunting, archery and fishing.  In fact he is a state licensed fishing instructor. Motorcycle building and riding is another vocation that Mr. Baqi enjoys.
